20 scenarios simulation for next 3-5 years
In these pivoting times sharing my thought on how business and industries will change in the next three to five years time.
- Information for free will be over and will have to pay for relevant search results. An early sign of these are visible as prominent sites have started to create content for paid users
- In the expectation of free information at the fingertip, humans who overlook the importance of updating the skills will perish.
- Poverty will be redefined from lack of money to lack of information. Starvation for food will give its seat to starvation for timely relevant information.
- Humans will need to work on improving the brain capacity to match the Artificial Intelligence to survive
- Philosophy will be a key area of study like computer and data science in the millennium. It will be a key differentiator for Artificial Intelligent systems which will have moral values
- Feature phones will get a tip over smartphones due to their data security. 45% of Indians still use the feature phones
- E-commerce will move towards more secure systems like short messages(SMS)
- 3D printing will hit mainstream and people will buy royalty of design and print the product themselves or outsourced manufacturing of a new dimension will thrive
- Implantable devices will gain popularity and knowledge implants will be in most demand
- The transporter will be the mode of transport. This mode converts the object into dematerialization and beams into the target location where it is rematerialized.
- The human skill trading market will be formally operational like a capital market where the skills will have a valuation which investors will be behind
- Geographical countries will dissolve and platform countries will emerge with its own currency (like Libra for FB)
- Epidemiology will have to now more considerate of animals along with humans when they study diseases. This concept is called One Health.
- Defence will move away from being guarded by people to being guarded by strong cybersecurity systems. Human soldiers will not be required as physical war will lose its prominence
- The countries defense budget will move from weapons to cybersecurity tools
- Average life expectancy will decrease as humans will be more obsolete much faster. Even if the natural death will diminish, a rise in forced deaths will decrease the life expectancy
- Experience economy will pave way for the age of reckoning
- Electoral voting will become digital backed by blockchain technology and more frequent elections will happen as the cost will come down
- Government authorities will have a poll system to choose the most accepted choice for major decisions
- Civil unrest backed by technology will be on a rise due to access to information across the world at the finger tip.
Some of these will be hard to digest but as said changes are the only constant and it is inevitable.
